WESTFIELD, Mass. – Jaylen Dean and Ryan Aldrich combined on a one-hitter Friday as the Westfield Babe Ruth 14-year-old All-Stars defeated South Berkshire, 6-0, in the Western Massachusetts Tournament.

 

Dean struck out eight in five innings of work to earn the win on the mound as Westfield (2-0) finished on top of a three-team round robin and advanced to Sunday’s championship game against Pittsfield.

 

Cayden Dionne went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lead Westfield’s offense.

 

Jacob Blackwell had a base hit for South Berkshire.

 

Mason Bailey went the distance on the mound for the Knights, allowing five earned runs.

 

Westfield and Pittsfield are scheduled to meet on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Bullens Field.
