Richard T. "Dick" Kelly, 59, of Waterbury, Conn., a Pittsfield native, died Monday evening at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury.
Born in Pittsfield on March 10, 1942, son of John P. "Red" and Yvette Martin Kelly, he attended the former St. Mary's elementary school and was a 1959 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. He attended the former North Adams State College before enlisting in the Navy.
He served in the Navy aboard the USS Oglethorpe, primarily in the Atlantic with several ports of call in Europe and in the Mediterranean.
Mr. Kelly was employed as a facilities services manager for IBM in New York and in several locations throughout Connecticut.
He leaves his wife, the former Dorie Holloran, whom he married Oct. 26, 1968; a son, John T. Kelly of Chester, S.C.; a daughter, Eileen Kelly-Beaulieu of Plantsville, Conn.; a sister, Janet M. Kerwood of Richmond; two brothers, Martin P. Kelly of Hawaii and Dennis J. Kelly of Cambridge, and three grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday morning at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, with the Rev. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Branford, Conn., in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.
