Bertha E. Hasty, 95

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Bertha Elvira Hasty, 95, of 379 East St. died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Unity, Wisc., on March 2, 1916, daughter of Viktor and Anna Sophia Josephson Erickson, she moved to Quincy at an early age and attended schools there. She moved to Pittsfield in 2004.

Mrs. Hasty was last employed by the Massachusetts Hospital School for Crippled Children in Canton until her retirement.

She attended Hope Church in Lenox and was a member First Baptist Church in Weymouth. She enjoyed sewing and crafts and made her own clothes. She was a fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Her husband, Leon Hasty, whom she married on Oct. 11, 1941, died on Feb. 5, 1971.

She leaves a son, Rodney L. Hasty and his wife, Linda, of Pittsfield; a daughter, Linda A. Mulanax of Canton, Ohio; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Six sisters and one brother are predeceased her.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Hasty will be Saturday, March 3, at 10 a.m. from Hope Church, 259 Kemble St., Lenox. Burial will follow at 2:30 in Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.

Calling hours will be Friday, March 2, from 4 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Neighbors First Inc., PO Box 722, Presque Isle, ME 04769 or the Berkshire Institute for Christian Studies, 249 Kemble St., Lenox, MA 01240.
