Laura E. Killeen, 89, of 28 New Hampshire Ave. died yesterday at home after a brief illness.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 19, 1912, daughter of Charles and Eva Koscher, she was a 1929 graduate of Pittsfield High School, where she played basketball.
She was employed by Crane & Co. in Dalton in the stationery department for several years before her marriage. She later worked at the former Holden & Stone's department store and at the former Bessie-Clark's. She last worked as a sales clerk at the former England's Department Store for more than 20 years, retiring when the business closed.
Mrs. Killeen was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and had attended St. Agnes' Church in Dalton for the last 10 years. She was a basketball and football fan, and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports. She also enjoyed playing cards.
Her husband, James C. Killeen Sr., whom she married Sept. 14, 1940, died Nov. 26, 1993.
She leaves two sons, James C. Killeen Jr. of Madison, Ohio, and Pittsfield Fire Department Capt. Robert F. Killeen; a brother, Richard Koscher of Pittsfield, and four grandsons.
Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. The funeral will be Thursday at 8:15 at the funeral home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Agnes' Church celebrated by the Rev. John A. Koonz, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to St. Agnes' School in care of the funeral home.
