Martha E. Gile, 80

LENOX, Mass. — Martha Elizabeth Gile, of Stockbridge Road, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, her 80th birthday, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in New Lebanon, N.Y., daughter of Levi P. and Doris Vivian Soules Gile, she moved to Berkshire County as a child and attended local schools, including the former Searles High School in Great Barrington. She received her certificate in operating room technology from Springfield Technical Community College in 1972 and a diploma from LaBaron Hairdressing Academy in 1977. She later returned to Springfield Tech to earn an associate degree in arts in 1997. She earned her bachelor of science degree in business administration from Columbia Southern University in Ocean Beach, Ala., in 2005.
Ms. Gile had worked as a surgical technician in the Springfield area and as a certified nurses' assistant at Berkshire County Association of Retarded Citizens in Pittsfield.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lenox and sang in its choir. She enjoyed oil painting, traveling and studying birds. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves a son, Gary F. Koloski of Baltimore; a daughter, Marlene V. Koloski of Lee; a sister, Patricia A. Tilley of Salem, Ore.; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brother, Clayton R. Gile.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Miss Gile will be conducted Friday, May 2, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lenox by Canon Stephen Booth. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 1, from 4 to 7 at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington.
