Anita L. Carpenter, 71

DALTON - Anita Louise Carpenter, 71, of River Run Apartments, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Waterbury, Vt., on Nov. 21, 1936, daughter of Wayne and Pearl M. LaCailade Carpenter, she graduated from high school in New York state, and later attended Berkshire Community College, where she graduated with a degree in nursing. Before coming to the Berkshires a year and a half ago, she had lived in Latham, N.Y.
Ms. Carpenter was employed as a social worker for the states of New York and Massachusetts for 25 years. She also worked as a private-duty nurse.
She was, at one time, a member of St. Charles' Church. She was an artist and a writer, and enjoyed animals.
She leaves two sons, Zachary Floyd of Pueblo, Colo., and Eric S. Floyd of Pittsfield; two daughters, Janice Floyd of Clifton Park, N.Y., and Jennifer Mayville of Burlington, Vt.; a sister, Virginia Griffin of Scoharie, N.Y.; and 13 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sons, David Floyd and Dean Carpenter.
FUNERAL NOTICE - Services for Ms. Carpenter will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, at 10:30 a.m. from Dery Funeral Home, with Monsignor Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in Waterbury, Vt. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ms. Carpenter may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
