PITTSFIELD - Michael T. Smith, 63, of 10 Union St., died on Sunday, Jan. 27, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 24, 1944, son of Lillian Mae Weatherby Smith and the late Grant Murray Martin Smith, he attended local schools and was a 1963 graduate of Pittsfield High School's Vocational Program.
An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a radio relay and carrier operator from 1963 until 1966, serving one year in Vietnam.
Mr. Smith was most recently employed in building maintenance at the Yon Building on Summer Street. Previously he was employed at General Electric.
He was a member of the color guard of the former Pittsfield Boys Club Cavaliers.
Besides his mother, he leaves a daughter, Jamie Smith, and two brothers, Neil Smith and Bruce Smith both of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE - A graveside funeral for Michael T. Smith, 63, will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Main Street Cemetery in Dalton, with Bishop David Heath, pastor of the congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, officiating.
Those attending are asked the meet inside the cemetery gate at 12:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in his memory may be made to the VFW Post 448 in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
