Dalton - William Fugman Jr., 65, of 68 Pinecrest Drive, died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield, on Oct. 10, 1942, son of Marion Hinkley Fugman and the late William Fugman Sr., he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. He attended Hudson Valley Community College in New York state and earned a bachelor's degree from Western New England College.
He served in the Army Reserves.
Mr. Fugman had been employed by Crane & Co. as a project engineer for 29 years until his retirement, Jan. 1, 2008. Prior to that, he was employed by Beloit Jones as a draftsman for 16 years.
He served on the board of directors for the Dalton Community Recreation Association for many years, and was the 2004 recipient of the Gib Kittredge Award.
Mr. Fugman married the former Loretta A Wary on Sept. 29, 2001.
His first wife, the former Diana Shepardson, died Oct. 1, 1995.
Besides his wife, of Dalton, and mother, of Pittsfield, Mr. Fugman leaves two sons, Gary M. Fugman of Ghent, N.Y. and Todd W. Fugman of Bartelsville, Okla.; two stepsons, Thomas Doyle of Dalton and Michael Doyle of Yardley, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Linda Hallin of Littleton; a sister, Janice Lorenz of Pittsfield; one granddaughter; and five stepgrandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for William Fugman, who died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, will be held Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Agnes' Church, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor.
Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Fugman may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, the Dalton Community Recreation Association, or to Dalton Ambulance and Rescue in care of the funeral home, 890 East Main St., Dalton.
