Hilda D. Buckheim

Lenox - Hilda D. Buckheim, 95, a former Pittsfield resident, died Tuesday at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center, where she had resided since 2003.
Born in North Adams, on Aug. 10, 1912, daughter of David and Fannie Shapiro Simkin, she attended Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School.
She assisted her husband in the early years of the Berkshire Plate Glass Co. in Pittsfield.
She was a member of Knesset Israel Synagogue. She was the synagogue's 1978 woman of the year, and a board member of the synagogue's Sisterhood.
She was a life member of the Berkshire Hills Hadassah, and served on several committees. In 1992 she was honored by Hadassah and given the Lifetime Achievement Award. She was a volunteer for Jewish causes. She was an amateur sculptor and enjoyed bridge and reading.
Her husband, Sidney Buckheim, whom she married Aug. 14, 1932, died Feb. 6, 1996.
Mrs. Buckheim leaves a son, Michael Buckheim of Henderson, Nev.; a daughter, Phyllis Namrow of Bethesda, Md.; two sisters, Corinne Geist of Auburndale, and Rhea Kaetz of Hampden, Conn.; two grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Mrs. Hilda D. Simkin Buckheim, who died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, will be conducted today at 1:30 p.m. at Congregation Knesset Israel, 16 Colt Road by the Rabbi David Greenspoon, spiritual leader.
Burial will follow at Congregation Knesset Israel Cemetery. Mrs. Buckheim also leaves two grandchildren, Eric Namrow and Dr. Alexander Namrow.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Dr. Stanley Simkin and Henry Simkin, and a sister, Rose Gerlach. Memorial donations can be made to Knesset Israel Synagogue in care of the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. , Pittsfield, Ma. 01201, which is in charge of arrangements.
