Margaret "Peg" O'Brien

Margaret "Peg" O'Brien, 74, formerly of Pomeroy Manor, died Saturday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, where she had resided for the past year.
Born in Flushing, N.Y., on Jan. 7, 1933, daughter of John and Anna O'Connor McGroarty, she was a graduate of Walton High School there. She moved to Pittsfield in 1952.
Mrs. O'Brien was the secretary at Sacred Heart School for many years.
She was a member of St. Agnes' Church in Dalton.
Her husband, John Francis O'Brien, whom she married May 3, 1952, in Bronx, N.Y., died Aug. 21, 2000.
She leaves two sons, Timothy O'Brien of North Adams and Thomas O'Brien of Pittsfield; three daughters, Nancy Slade of Jamaica Plain, Mary Fielding of Lenox and Margaret Lenski of Dalton; and 14 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, John F. O'Brien Jr.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Margaret O'Brien, who died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, will be celebrated Thursday at St. Agnes' Church in Dalton by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Dalton Council on Aging or to St. Agnes' Church, both in care of the funeral home. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, Sean, Christopher, Elizabeth and Thomas O'Brien, Justin, Jacob and Andrew Lenski, Michael and Michelle Slade, Bailey, Annie and John Fielding, and Morgan and Amanda Michaels; three sons-in-law, Thomas Fielding, Mathew Slade and Joel Lenski; and two daughters-in-law, Michelle and Suzette O. Brien.
She was predeceased by her brother, Charles.
