Mary Elizabeth Murray

Mary Elizabeth Murray, 87, of 670 Cape St., formerly of Darien, Conn., died Dec. 18 at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield, where she had lived for a short time.
Born in Dubuque, Iowa on Feb. 27, 1920, daughter of Carl and Mary Kilty Lindenberg, she attended Visitation Academy and Clarke College in Dubuque. The Murrays moved to Darien in 1952, and lived there until 1997.
Mrs. Murray was primarily a homemaker, and later was employed by and retired from the former Union Trust, now Wachovia Bank, in Darien.
She was a longtime parishioner and member of the choir of St. John's Church in Darien.
Her husband, Charles D. Murray, whom she married April 10, 1947 at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, died in 1997.
Mrs. Murray leaves two sons, Daniel Murray of Kent, Conn. and Michael W. Murray of Pittsfield; two daughters, Mimi Murray-Eastman of Quechee, Vt., and Lolly Murray of Pittsfield; a brother, Bill Lindenberg of Belleville, Ontario; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary E. Murray, who died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, will be held Jan. 5 at 1 p.m. at St. John's Church, 1986 Post Road in Darien, Conn. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
Family and friends were always welcomed in the Murray home. In their later years, Mary and her husband also enjoyed sailing, traveling, and entertaining on their boat. Mrs. Murray also leaves a daughter-in-law, Alina Hernandez; three grandchildren, Caitlin and Luke Eastman and Maeve Murray; and a great-granddaughter, Lilith Helina Murray. A sister, Lora Dougherty, died in 2004.
