William J. Eulian Sr.

William J. Eulian Sr., 85, of 45 Main St., Sugar Hill, died Friday at Hillcrest Commons, where he had resided for a short time.
He was a former longtime resident of Orchard Street in Pittsfield.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 5, 1922, son of Joseph and Susan Brockway Eulian, he was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
A decorated Navy veteran of World War II, he served from 1942 until 1945 as a shipfitter, first class.
Mr. Eulian was employed by General Electric Co. as a welder for 38 years in the former tank shop. He retired in 1983.
He was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church in Pittsfield and a founder and former director of the Boys and Girls Club Alumni, a founding member of the Boys and Girls Club Cavaliers, and a member of the Italian-American Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 448, American Legion Post 68 and the Ralph Froio Senior Center.
He and his wife, the former Hermance Deshaies, were married Feb. 4, 1943. She died Dec. 12, 2001.
He leaves a son, William J. Eulian Jr. of Hinsdale and Waltham; five daughters, Christine M. Putnam of Hilton Head, S.C., Diane L. Eulian and Lauri A. Drake, both of Hinsdale, Jean A. Plumb of Portland, Ore., and Lisa M. Controy of Madison, Conn.; three sisters, Lucy Williams of Santa Rosa, Calif., Blanche Cullen of Pittsfield, and Agnes M. "Peg" Cadorette of Elon, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for William J. Eulian Sr., who died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Dennis Castella, chaplain of Hospice of Western Mass.
will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 6 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in his memory may be made to the Boys and Girls Club, in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
