Fernanda Carpinello, 98, of 490 South St., a former resident of 72 Pembroke Ave., Pittsfield, died Sunday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.
Born in Bondeno, province of Ferrara, Italy, on Sept. 24, 1909, daughter of Joseph and Biancha Zucchi Solera, she attended schools in Italy and emigrated to Pittsfield as a child.
A homemaker, Mrs. Carpinello was employed by General Electric Co. in the capacitor department during World War II.
She was a communicant of All Souls' Church and a member of its Ladies' Society, and a former member of its choir.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing.
Her husband, Corado Carpinello, whom she married Sept. 16, 1933, died May 17, 1985.
She leaves a daughter, Nancy M. Brooks of Dalton, with whom she resided; two sisters, Florence Allessio of Pittsfield and Yolanda Pleau of Newhall, Calif.; a brother, Henry Solera of El Paso, Texas; a grandchild, and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Fernanda Carpinello, who died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, will be Friday at 9 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at All Souls' Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.
Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. She was the beloved grandmother of Lynn Wise of Lancaster, Pa., and of two great-grandchildren, Brian and Kristie Wise. She also leaves a son-in-law, Richard Brooks.
She was predeceased by a sister, Marie L. Russo, and by a brother, Albert J. Solera. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dalton Ambulance and Rescue Fund in care of the funeral home.
