Margaret K. Stepanian

Margaret K. Stepanian, 93, of 45 Main St., died Tuesday at Sugar Hill, where she had resided for 3 1/2 years.

Born in Lenox on March 9, 1914, daughter of Alexander and Annie Simpson Rennie, she attended local schools. Following the death of her mother, she raised her brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Stepanian was employed by Benjamin Franklin Press for several years as a bookbinder before her marriage.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and an accomplished crocheter of afghans.

Her first husband, Benjamin H. Porter, whom she married May 9, 1937, died May 30, 1950.

Her husband, Charles Stepanian, whom she married Nov. 9, 1957, died Feb. 24, 1988.

She leaves a daughter, Mary A. Tuggey of Pittsfield; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sons, John A. Porter in 2002 and Willis J. Porter in 1999.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Margaret K. Stepanian, who died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Charles Young, chaplain of HospiceCare in the Berkshires. Burial will be in the spring in the Church on the Hill Cemetery in Lenox.

A calling hour will be held from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. Donations in her memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the Jimmy Fund, both in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

Mrs. Stepanian's family would like to express its deepest thanks to the staff at Sugar Hill for the care provided her. She also leaves a son-in law, Raymond Tuggey, and a daughter-in-law, Geraldine S. Porter. She also was predeceased by nine brothers, Alexander, James, John, Robert, William, Gregor, John, George and Albert; and two sisters, Annie Simpson Brooks Brewster and Mary Simpson Hurley.
