Shirley Ann Rocca

Shirley Ann Rocca, 70, of Kimball Farms, a former resident of 31 Pacific St., Pittsfield, died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Scranton, Pa., on June 24, 1937, daughter of Sarah Roach Dawes, she was a graduate of Old Forge (Pa.) High School and attended Eastern Bible Institute.

A bookkeeper, Mrs. Rocca was employed by the city of Pittsfield in the Retirement Department, retiring in 2002 with 17 years of service. Before that, she worked at the former Berkshire Hardware and Shapiro Motors.

She was a member of Christian Assembly Church, where she sang in the choir for more than 30 years and taught Sunday school. She also was involved with women's ministries, and directed youth ministries.

Her husband, John Rocca, whom she married Oct. 18, 1958, died Nov. 19, 2003.

She leaves a son, the Rev. Robert J. Rocca of Goodyear, Ariz.; a daughter, Cynthia L. Rocca of Richmond; two brothers, Wayne Dawes of Taylor, Pa., and David Dawes of Howell, N.J.; a sister, Elizabeth Dawes of Taylor, Pa.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Shirley Ann Rocca, who died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. at Christian Assembly Church by the Rev. Joseph Nieves, pastor. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery.

Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME. Mrs. Rocca also leaves her daughter-in-law, Kimberly; four grandchildren, Angela, Amanda, Brandon and Victoria; and a great-grandson, Julian.
