Peter Henry Martin Sr., 89, of North Andover died there Saturday at Prescott House.
He was the father of Peter H. Martin Jr. of Pittsfield.
Born in North Andover on April 19, 1918, son of Benjamin and Catherine Perry Martin, he attended schools there.
Mr. Martin was a North And-over firefighter for 33 years, retiring in 1983.
A top golfer, he won the Rogers Senior Tournaments many times.
His wife, the former Frances Walsh, died in August 1995. They had been married 55 years.
Besides his son, he leaves a daughter, Sheila Martin of Milan, N.H.; a son, Arthur Martin of Epsom, N.H.; a brother, John Martin of Derry, N.H.; a sister, Margaret McHugh of St. Louis, Prince Edward Island, Canada; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sons, George Martin in 1945 and John Martin in 1969.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- At Henry Martin's request, there will be no service. He died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, and donated his body to Tufts University School of Medicine, so please spend some time with a loved one and share a few good stories about Henry.
Memorial donations in his name may be made to the charity of one's choice. Survivors include a son-in-law, Ed (Sheila); Arthur's partner, Karen Panza; and many nieces and nephews. He lived his life enjoying family and friends wherever he traveled. Henry touched the lives of many people and will never be forgotten.
He was predeceased by his brothers Stephen and George Martin.
