Margaret Ann Kaplan, 69, of Onota Street, formerly of Grove Street in Housatonic, died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Holyoke on Jan. 18, 1938, daughter of John J. Conway Sr. and Lillian Woods Conway, she attended schools there and graduated from Monument Mountain Regional High School in Great Barrington in 1983.
She moved to the Berkshires in 1967.
Mrs. Kaplan was employed by the Registry of Deeds in Great Barrington as a clerk, retiring in the late 1980s.
She was a communicant of All Saints' Church and a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Adams Budz Veterans of Foreign Wars post, both in Housatonic. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and old movies.
Her husband, Michael F. Kaplan, whom she married Oct. 27, 1956, at St. Jerome's Church in Holyoke, died Oct. 21, 1983.
She leaves a son, Michael S. Kaplan of Copake Falls, N.Y.; two daughters, Deborah Lenski of the town of Washington and Patricia Lenski of Savoy; three brothers, John J. Conway Jr. of Springfield, Patrick Conway of Agawam and Michael Conway of Mountain Home, Idaho; three sisters, Marcella Lowe of Holyoke, Elizabeth Young of Mountain Home and Beatrice Whalen of Vernon, Conn.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Margaret Kaplan, who died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Sheffield by the Rev. John Lis, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery in Housatonic. The family will receive friends tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS Funeral Home in Great Barrington. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners' Children's Hospital through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
Mrs. Kaplan also leaves two sons-in-law, Jeffrey Lenski and John Lenski, and six grandchildren, Laurie, Nicholas, Eric and Erin Lenski, Nichole Gailes and Chelsea Kaplan, and Colleen Lester. Remembrances, memories and reflections may be sent to the family through www.finnertyandstevens.com.
