Charles P. Fezzie

Charles P. Fezzie, 92, of 32 McArthur St. died Sunday at Hillcrest Commons, where he had resided for two weeks.
For the past seven months, he had lived at Melbourne Place.
Born in Lee on June 29, 1915, son of Dominic and Maria Ricci Fezzie, he was forced to quit school in the 11th grade during the Depression. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was employed at Pittsfield State Forest and, for three years, in national parks in Oregon.
Mr. Fezzie was employed as a welder by General Electric Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1977.
He was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and an active member of the Pittsfield Senior Center.
He was also a member of the General Electric Athletic Association Tennis Club and took many trips with the Golden Seniors, of which he also was a member. He enjoyed playing volleyball, gardening and reading.
His wife, the former Catherine M. Marra, whom he married Oct. 8, 1937, died Oct. 20, 2006.
He leaves a son, Charles A. "Butch" Fezzie of Richmond; two brothers, Frank Fezzie of Kingsport, Tenn., and Thomas Fezzie of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Angelina Lingoski and Claire Dodge, both of Pittsfield; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Another son, Paul F. Fezzie, died in 1986.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Charles Peter Fezzie, who died Sunday, Oct. 14, 1007, will be Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mark's Church celebrated by the Rev. John C. Salatino, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Fezzie may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
Mr. Fezzie also leaves a daughter-in-law, Martha Fezzie; grandchildren, Charles A. Fezzie Jr., William F. Fezzie, Carmen Fezzie and Monique Honiker; great-grandchildren, Charles, Aileen, Dominic, Elizabeth, Madeline, and Catherine Fezzie, and Michael and Clarissa Honiker; and his extended family, the Gearys.
