Peter Gregory Sheran

Peter Gregory Sheran, 58, of Springfield, a native of Pittsfield, died Monday at Baystate Medical Center.

Born on March 13, 1949, son of Francis J. and Lillian Carrow Sheran, he was a 1967 graduate of Pittsfield High School and received an associate degree in accounting from Berkshire Community College, a bachelor's degree in accounting from American International College in Springfield and a master's in business administration from Western New England College.

Mr. Sheran was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a supervisor of distibution operations. From 1971 to 1996, he was employed by Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co., attaining the position of second vice president of accounting in the life and health benefits division. He then served as director of finance and budgets and as director of premium accounts for UNICARE Life and Health until 1999.

He enjoyed sports, traveling and dining out.

He leaves three sons, Kevin Sheran of Philadelphia, Timothy Sheran of Edgartown and Jeffrey Sheran of East Longmeadow; and a brother, John Sheran of Greenville, S.C.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for Peter G. Sheran, who died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Cemetery by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor of Sacred Heart Church. Those attending are asked to meet inside the cemetery gates at 10:15 a.m. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Pittsfield Boys' and Girls' Club, in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201. He was predeceased by his brothers, Francis, Charles "Buddy," Donald "Bones," Richard and David Sheran; and his sisters, Patsy Morris and Nancy Shaw.

He leaves a friend, Heather Trudell of Northampton, and many nieces and nephews.
