Matthew T. Kut

Matthew T. Kut, 89, of 245 Cheshire Road died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Adams on Sept. 8, 1918, son of the late Thomas and Anna Ciempa Kut, he was educated in schools there before moving to Pittsfield.
Mr. Kut was employed as a packer at the former Eaton Paper Co. for 12 years, retiring in 1981. Before that, he was employed installing carpets for the House of Carpets and Haddad's Rugs and as a weaver at the former Berkshire Hathaway Mills in Adams.
After retiring, Mr. Kut worked for Elder Services of Lanesborough and at the popcorn wagon at Park Square.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Pittsfield and a longtime volunteer at Elder Services' Meals on Wheels kitchen.
He enjoyed woodworking, model railroading, writing poetry and watching the Boston Red Sox.
His wife, the former Rita Wellspeak, whom he married May 20, 1939, in Notre Dame Church in Adams, died Jan. 29, 1995.
He leaves a daughter, Barbara Ann Kut of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for for Matthew T. Kut, 89, who died Oct. 12, 2007, will be held Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. at the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church by Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor.
Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice, in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
