Paul J. Shea, 80, of Centerville, a native of Pittsfield, died Thursday at Essex Pavilion Nursing Home in Hyannis after a period of declining health.
Born on Feb. 3, 1927, son of James and Elizabeth Hogerty Shea, he was a 1946 graduate of Lenox High School and a 1955 graduate of Bryant College in Providence, R.I.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he served two years with the finance department at Fort Eustis, Va.
Mr. Shea was employed by John Hancock Insurance Co. in Boston, retiring in 1977. Before that, he worked for the Federal Milk Market in Vermont.
His wife, the former Claire Condron, predeceased him.
He leaves three brothers, James Shea of Anacortes, Wash., Dr. John Shea of Ashland and Dr. Thomas Shea of Glen Carbon, Iowa.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Paul J. Shea, who died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the CHAPEL OF THE MATARESE FUNERAL HOME, 325 Main St., Ashland. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Westfield.
There will be no calling hours. He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Kelly of Pittsfield.
