George L. Allaire, 80, of 43 Sawmill Park in Southwick, died yesterday at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke.
Born in Holyoke on Feb. 8, 1927, son of Edward and Theresa Dupont Allaire, he was a graduate of Holyoke High School and attended American International College. He later received his bachelor's degree from California Western University.
He was an Army Veteran of World War II.
He was employed as comptroller by the former Comfed Savings Bank of Pittsfield. He was a certified internal auditor and a member of the National Financial Managers Society for Savings Institutions. He served as chairman of its Internal Auditors Division and also on its Board of Governors.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lake Church in Southwick, and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Pittsfield.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Gertrude Leusser Allaire.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Karen Uliasz of Southwick; and five grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Joan Brink in 2003.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for George L. Allaire, who died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, will be at 9:30 a.m., tomorrow at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sheep Pasture Road, Southwick, with burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
There will be no formal calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in George's name to the Soldiers' Home, 110 Cherry Ave., Holyoke, MA 01040. SOUTHWICK FORASTIERE FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
He also leaves two sons-in-law, Gary Uliasz and David McGovern; and grandchildren, Heidi, Jennifer and Sean Uliasz of Southwick, Amanda Brink of Florence and Melissa McGovern of Franklin.
