George David Calebaugh

George David Calebaugh, 88, of 30 Evelyn St. died yesterday at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center.

Born in Antioch, Ohio, on Oct. 17, 1918, son of David and Arebelle Boner Calebaugh, he was a 1936 graduate of Antioch High School and a graduate of the General Electric Co. apprentice course in Pittsfield.

A World War II veteran, he served with the Army Air Force Engineers.

Mr. Calebaugh was employed by GE for 43 years, retiring as a foreman of the power transformer division in 1978.

He was a member of First Congregational Church, the General Electric Athletic Association, the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs, the GE Foremen's Club and the Greylock Ski Club.

He enjoyed playing golf and tennis, fishing, hunting, bowling and skiing. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox.

He and his wife the former Catherine "Kay" Urban, would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 27. They were married at St. Mark's Church in Pittsfield.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Joan L. Davis of Lenox; two sons, George P. Calebaugh of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Paul D. Calebaugh of Gilbert, Ariz.; a sister, Ethel Brown of the state of Florida; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for George D. Calebaugh, who died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church of Dalton on Main Street by the Rev. Robert R. Kyte, pastor.

There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's School, Lee, Mass., in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St. Dalton, MA 01226, which is handling arrangements.

Mr. Calebaugh also leaves a son-in-law, Paul T. Davis; two daughters-in-laws, Danielle A. and Ellen A. Calebaugh; his seven adored grandchildren, Becky Davis-Mastrodicasa, Rachel and PJ Davis, and Matthew, Heather, Jessica and Kasey Calebaugh; and his two great-grandchildren, Enzo and Nolan Mastrodicasa.
