Eleanor Goodrich, 84, formerly of 53 Melbourne Road, died Thursday at Providence Care Center in Lenox.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 8, 1923, daughter of William H. and Edna Jepson Shaver, she attended Pittsfield schools and was a 1941 graduate of Lee High School.
Mrs. Goodrich worked for many years in the infants' department of the former England's department store, retiring when the store closed in the late 1980s. Before that, she was employed for a time by General Electric Co. She also worked at Country Curtains' annual sale for five years.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Mark's Church and enjoyed gardening and walking.
Her husband, Robert J. Goodrich, whom she married Aug. 24, 1950, died Sept. 23, 1999.
She leaves three daughters, Ellen L. Goodrich of Pittsfield, Marjorie A. Broda of Southampton and Susan M. Phillips of Las Vegas; two sisters, Emma Jaouen of Lenox and Irene Audet of Great Barrington; and nine grandchlidren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Eleanor Shaver Goodrich, who died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mark's Church by the Rev. Mark Mengel, pastor of St. Teresa's Church.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Residents' Fund or the Employees' Fund at Providence Care Center, both in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
She leaves nine grandchildren, Brian Terenzini, Elizabeth, Katherine, Emily, Molly and Annie Broda, and Stefanie, Abigail and Benjamin Phillips; three sons-in-law, David A. Cross, Michael W. Broda and Daniel G. Phillips; and many nieces and nephews.
