Patricia M. Stankiewicz

Patricia M. Stankiewicz, 83, of 15 Adelaide Ave., died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Brisbane, Australia, on Aug. 13, 1924, daughter of Patrick L. and Ellen Foran Doyle, she graduated from high school there.

Mrs. Stankiewicz was last employed as a paralegal for Aaronson and Fuster law offices, retiring in the 1980s. Before that, she worked as a civilian typist for the United States Army during World War II and as a typist for the United Nations from 1950 to 1961.

She enjoyed gardening and tennis and was a supporter of public broadcasting.

She leaves two sons, Anthony and Peter Stankiewicz, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister, Kathleen Doyle of Australia; a brother, Dennis Doyle of Australia; and a grandson.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The memorial service for Patricia M. Stankiewicz, who died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 45 Bradford St., Pittsfield. Calling hours will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either WAMC or the American Civil Liberties Union, both in care of the funeral home. Patricia was known for her dry sense of humor. She will be lovingly missed by her grandson Sky.

Her former husband, the sculptor Richard Stankiewicz, died in 1983.
