Alcide E. Goyette

Alcide E. Goyette, 85, of 25 Elaine Drive died Saturday at home.

Born in Frelighsburg, Quebec, Canada, on Feb. 22, 1922, son of Lionel and Alma Laroux Goyette, he moved to Pittsfield at a young age and was a 1940 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.

An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served in the European theater and achieved the rank of corporal.

Mr. Goyette was employed as a lineman and construction inspector for the former New England Telephone Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1985.

He and his wife, the former Helen Sangiovanni, would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary today.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Danielle Goyette of Brighton; a son, Richard Goyette of Stockton, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

A son, Ronald Goyette, died in 2005.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Alcide E. Goyette, who died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Calling hours will be tomorrow, the day of the service, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield. Alcide was the beloved grandfather to Chachi, Bianca, Nicole, Trevor and Cody, and the father-in-law to Mary Goyette.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of the funeral home. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ronald H. and Bernard Goyette.
