Mario "Buck" Baccoli

Mario "Buck" Baccoli, 84, of 5401 Princess View Place, San Diego, a Pittsfield native, died Saturday at San Diego Hospice and Palliative Care Center.

Born Aug. 24, 1922, son of Angelo and Arigia Migliorini Baccoli, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and lived his whole life there, moving to San Diego in June 2006.

Mr. Baccoli was employed by General Electric Co. as a dispatcher for 43 years, retiring in 1985.

He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church in Pittsfield and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs. He enjoyed traveling.

His wife, the former Edith Taglieri, whom he married June 3, 1944, died May 21, 1988.

He leaves five daughters, Christina Castagna and Laurie Baccoli-Joyce, both of San Diego, Barbara McConnell of West Sand Lake, N.Y., Lynda Baccoli of Morristown, N.J., and Jeanne Baccoli of Pittsfield; two brothers, Louis Baccoli of Ocala, Fla., and Dauro Baccoli of Pittsfield; and seven grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mario "Buck" Baccoli, who died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, will be held at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to San Diego Hospice and Palliative Care Center in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Mr. Baccoli, who enjoyed spending time with his family, leaves three sons-in-law, John Castagna (Christina), Vincent Candido (Barbara) and Patrick Joyce (Laurie); seven cherished grandchildren, Susan Baccoli, Anne Matyola, Jason McConnell, Matthew and Michael O'Deane, Allyn Vogel and Justin Joyce; and was proud babbo to numerous great-grandchildren.

He also leaves his devoted companion of 18 years, Tecla Giusti. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Bill Vogel (Lynda), and by a brother and sister.
