Louis J. Lamone

Louis J. Lamone, 89, of West Street died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center.
For 24 years, Mr. Lamone was the photographer and studio assistant for illustrator Norman Rockwell of Stockbridge, and his likeness can be found in many of the artist's paintings.
Born in Pittsfield on April 1, 1918, son of Biagio and Carmella Lombardi Limone, he attended Pittsfield High School.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the Army Corps of Engineers, mainly in New Guinea, from 1942 to 1946, attaining the rank of sergeant.
Mr. Lamone was employed by General Electric Co. for 44 years in the distribution transformer department, retiring in 1980. After that, he worked part time at the Lenox post office and at St. Ann's Church in Lenox, where he was a communicant.
He enjoyed gardening and reading and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox.
He and his wife, the former Mary Vecellio, whom he married at Mount Carmel Church on April 26, 1941, had made their home in Lenox since 1948.
Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Anne White of Pittsfield, Helen Downey of Lanesborough and Cecelia Rufo of Dalton, and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mr. Louis J. Lamone, who died Aug. 20, 2007, will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church in Pittsfield.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lenox Library, in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
He also leaves his loving grandchildren, Mary Anne, Cynthia and George, and his son-in-law, George F. Rufo Jr.
