Antoinette Evelyn DiMassimo Pannozzo

Antoinette Evelyn DiMassimo Pannozzo, 93, a four-year resident of Sugar Hill, 45 Main St., died Thursday at Craneville Place of Dalton after a brief stay.

Born in Canato, Italy, on June 2, 1914, daughter of Sabatino and Eva DiLoreto DeVirgilio, she emigrated to the United States at 6 months of age and became a citizen on April 16, 1959.

She attended Dalton schools.

Mrs. Pannozzo was employed by Sheaffer Eaton Corp. in the envelope department for eight years. Before that, she worked in the plastics division at General Electric Co. and at the former Neisner's department store.

She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and enjoyed cooking, walking and travel.

Her first husband, Lawrence B. DiMassimo Sr., whom she married Sept. 26, 1931, at Mount Carmel Church, died Jan. 23, 1964.

She and her husband, Achillis Pannozzo, were married Aug. 31, 1968.

Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Lawrence "Larry" DiMassimo Jr. of Flowery, Ga.; four daughters, Dorothy VanKorb of Safety Harbor, Fla., Betty A. Scullary of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Jean Lenihan and Diana Sullivan, both of Pittsfield; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by a son, Vincent J. DiMassimo, and by a daughter, Pauline Lenihan.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Antoinette Evelyn "Toni" DiMassimo Pannozzo, who died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. A 10 a.m. calling hour will precede the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.

Mrs. Pannozzo was predeceased by a sister, Florence DiMassimo, and by two brothers, Guido and Silvio DeVirgilio.
