Josephine E. Carnevale

Josephine E. Carnevale, 93, a longtime resident of Brown Street, died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on June 18, 1914, daughter of Raphael and Alessandrina Caparelli Carnevale, she was a 1932 graduate of Pittsfield High School and attended the former Berkshire Business College.

Miss Carnevale was employed by General Electric Co. as a stenotypist in the ordnance division for 25 years, retiring in 1984. Before that, she worked at the former Elmvale Worsted Mill.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a longtime member of the Women's Club of Pittsfield and of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs.

She leaves a niece, Celeste Perkins of Pittsfield, and two nephews, Mark Carnevale of Alexandria, Va., and Jon E. Crowley of Abilene, Texas.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Josephine E. Carnevale, 93, who died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church by the Rev. Paul Bombardier, pastor.

Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Mary's Church and HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.

Josephine also leaves a sister-in-law, Florence M. Carnevale, and several grand-nieces and -nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Rose Nolan, Marie Carnevale and Amelia Crowley, and by her brother, Frank J. Carnevale.
