Lois D. Conley, 75, of 3670 Cottons Road, Canastota, N.Y., died Tuesday at home.
She was the mother of H. Erin Nelson of Lenox.
Born in Schenectady, N.Y., on June 9, 1932, daughter of the Rev. Ralph and Florence Mutchler Davie, she spent her early years in Schenectady, N.Y., Beach Creek, Penn., South New Berlin, and in Georgetown, N.Y., where she graduated in 1950 as valedictorian of her class at Georgetown High School. Later, she was a 1954 graduate of Oneonta (N.Y.) State College.
She had lived in Canastota since 1957.
At one time, Mrs. Conley taught kindergarten in New Woodstock, N.Y.
She had been the organist for many years at the First Baptist Church in Georgetown, where her father was pastor. She enjoyed baseball and was a New York Yankees fan. She also enjoyed gardening, and was a reader and history buff.
She and her husband, C. Darrell Conley, were married on July 4, 1957 in Canastota.
Besides her husband and daughter, she leaves another daughter, Kirsten Goodman of Fayetteville, N.Y.; a brother, Ralph Davie Jr. of Kiawah Island, S.C.; a sister, Mary Mero of Oneida Castle, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Private calling hours and funeral services for Lois D. Conley, who died in Canastota, N.Y., on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Robert A. Bromfield will officiate.
Burial will be in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota, N.Y. Arrangements have been entrusted to J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, 201 James St., Canastota, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to her husband, C. Darrell Conley, to be divided among Lois' favorite charities, in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
Mrs. Conley also leaves her grandchildren John-Philip Goodman, and Meghan and Shannon Nelson; her son-in-law Petit Jean Goodman; her sister-in-law Carole Davie; her brother-in-law Hamilton "Ham" Mero; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Lois was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who always put her family first. She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
