Edmond J. Tiska, 82, of 60 Draper Ave. died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 17, 1924, son of Joseph T. Tiska and Stella Serovic Tiska Wojick, he was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School, where he was enrolled in the sheet metal and fabrication vocational program.
Mr. Tiska was a 56-year member of the Sheet Metal Workers' Union, Local 63, and worked for various companies, including Pittsfield Pipers.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of its Family Society, and a member of the National Rifle Association and Trout Unlimited.
He was a birdwatcher, a gardener and a fan of the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, tying flies, and designing and fabricating metal sculptures and birdfeeders.
His wife, the Barbara J. Danford, whom he married April 7, 1947, died Nov. 23, 2005.
He leaves a son, Stanley J. Tiska of Hinsdale; three daughters, Mary Jane Lucido of Hinsdale, Sally J. Rice of Peru and Susan J. "Rainbow" Hornyak of Pittsfield; a brother, Clemens T. Tiska of Stone Ridge, N.Y.; three sisters, Valentina Mangapit of Warrington, Pa., Dorothy Wojkowski of Palmetto, Fla., and Theresa Quillard of Hinsdale; and seven grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Edmond J. Tiska, 82, who died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, will be Monday at 9:15 a.m. from DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church celebrated by the Rev. Paul Bombardier, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in his memory may be made to St. Mary's Church in care of the funeral home.
He also leaves his grandchildren, Richard Lucido Jr., Lori and Trina Hornyak, Joshua, Naomi and Rachel Tiska, and Sarah Jane Dyer Rice; his sons-in-law, Richard Lucido Sr., David Hornyak and Mark Rice III; his daughter-in-law, Audrey Tiska; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Edward F. and Alphonse Tyska, and Martin Wojick.
