Peter Anthony Shelsey, 85, of 10124 Suzanne Drive, River Ridge, La., died Sunday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 8, 1922, son of Damiano and Theresa Peri Scelsi, he graduated from Pittsfield High School and Clarkson College in Potsdam, N.Y.
He moved to New Orleans in 1952.
Mr. Shelsey was a chemical engineer employed by Shell Oil Company in Norco, La. He retired in 1983.
He enjoyed playing the stock market and gardening.
He and his wife, the former Patricia Porter, were married June 18, 1960.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Adele Lemarie' Shelsey Potts and Celeste Marie Shelsey Anding, both of New Orleans; and two sisters, Josephine Scelsi Lentz and Antoinette M. Shelsey, both of Pittsfield.
FUNERALNOTICE -- Visitation for Peter A. Shelsey, who died Sunday, July 29, 2007, will be held Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. A Mass will follow the visitation in the chapel of the funeral home at 10 a.m.

He also leaves his sons-in-law, John Baker Potts II and Jeffrey Michael Anding; his grandchildren, John Baker Potts III, Nicholas Damiano Anding and Emily Adele Anding, all of New Orleans. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Nicholas Valentino Shelsy, Joseph Salvatore Scelsi, Mary Shelsey Solera, and his twin sister, Theresa Shelsey.
