Mary R. Pinney

Mary R. Pinney, 88, of 392 Summit Road, died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born in Trenholm, Ore., on July 6, 1919, daughter of Evan and Viola Tatro Treharne, she was a 1937 graduate of Seaside (Ore.) High School and received her degree in business administration from Oregon State College.

She moved to Richmond in 1974.

Mrs. Pinney was employed by Portland Gas and Coal Co., Kenmore Coat Factory and Sears, Roebuck & Co., and was the manager of the former Fanny Farmer's candy store in Pittsfield.

She was a member of Richmond Congregational Church and an active member of its Friendly Circle.

She was active with her bridge club and enjoyed square dancing, gardening and reading for the blind.

Her husband, Harold E. Pinney, whom she married Aug. 26, 1944, died April 30, 2001.

She leaves a daughter, Mary Lee Godfroy of Richmond; a son Robert M. Pinney of Lenox; a sister, Ethyl Morreill of Salesville, Ark.; a brother Noah Treharne of Rockaway, Ore.; and two grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Mary R. Pinney will he held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Center Cemetery in Richmond. There will be no calling hours.

Following the service, friends are invited back to the family home at 392 Summit Road. Donations in her memory may be made to Richmond Congregational Church, in care of WELLIINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

Among survivors are her grandchildren, Jessica R. Godfroy and Louis E. Godfroy IV; her son-in-law, Vaughan L. Roberts; her daughter-in-law, Linda M. Pinney; and her four legged friends Harley and Sparky.
