Dorothy C. Bartley

Dorothy C. Bartley, 93, of Sugar Hill, 45 Main St., a former longtime resident of Pleasant Street, died yesterday at home.

Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 1, 1913, daughter of Michael J. and Catherine Corcoran Butler, she graduated from Pittsfield High in 1931.

A bookkeeper, Mrs. Bartley was employed by O'Connell Oil Co., the former Berkshire Auto, Dalton Garage, and Moody Heating and Oil, retiring in 1957.

She was a communicant of St. Agnes' Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality.

She was also a volunteer for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and for Elder Services.

Her husband, John E. Bartley, whom she married Oct. 9, 1937, died July 24, 1975.

She leaves a daughter, Patricia B. Johnson of Davenport, Fla.; a son, John M. Bartley of Pittsfield; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Dorothy C. Bartley, who died Tuesday, July 24, 2007 will be Friday at 10 a.m. from DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes' Church in Dalton celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Following cremation, burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Agnes' Church, in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

She also leaves her son-in-law, Ronald E. Johnson; her daughter-in-law, Beverly J. Bartley; four grandchildren, Maureen Boino and her husband, Kevin, of Dalton, Steven Johnson and his wife, Sheri, of Florida, and Timothy Bartley and Kellie Bartley of Pittsfield; six great-grandchildren, Jacqueline, Kevin and Catherine Boino, and Patrick, Cameron and Tiffany Johnson; and a sister-in-law, Corrine Butler.

Dorothy also leaves many friends among the residents and staff at Sugar Hill in Dalton. A brother, Edward Butler, and a sister, Ann McCormick, are deceased.
