Rose M. Serafin

Rose M. Serafin, 78, of 180 Montgomery Ave. Extension died Wednesday at home.

Born in Pittsfield on April 8, 1929, daughter of William and Annie Galpin Duclos, she was educated in local schools.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Serafin worked for a time at the former Hilton Hotel, and at the former Dalton Woolen and Wyandotte Worsted mills.

She was a communicant of St. Charles' Church and enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun and Turning Stone casinos.

Her husband, John Serafin, whom she married Feb. 17, 1947, at St. Charles' Church, died Oct. 8, 1981.

She leaves three daughters, Nancy Slick and Rose Ann Hill, both of Pittsfield, and Joan Toole of Stockton, Calif.; a sister, Clara Gaylord of Pittsfield; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Rose M. Serafin, 78, who died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, surrounded by her loving family, will be held Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Charles' Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choosing in care of the funeral home. She also leaves her grandchildren, Michelle Hill, Jennifer Powell, Darcy Slick, Jeremi Brown, Douglas Slick, Jessica Dewey, Deborah Hill, Jonathan Brown and Joshua Brown; her great-grandchildren, Amanda Boone, Jaycob Harrison, Nathan Hillard, Cody Dewey, Samantha Slick, Alexis Dewey and Christina Slick; three sons-in-law, Donald Hill, David Slick Sr. and Timothy Toole; her best friend, Kay Tassone; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Jere Brown; by four brothers, William, Edward, Martin and Richard Duclos; and by four sisters, Elsie Gero, Gertrude Danylieko, Annie Boyd and Dorothy Fassell. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
