Donald A. Johnson, 86, of 326 Dalton Ave. died Tuesday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 5, 1920, son of Alexander E. and Frances Boice Johnson, he was a 1938 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a lifelong resident of Pittsfield.
Mr. Johnson was employed as an electrician for General Electric Co., retiring in 1986 after 45 years of service.
He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and pensioners. A 33rd degree Mason in the Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsfield, Mr. Johnson was also a member of Unity Lodge of Dalton and the Melha Shrine.
He was active in the First Baptist Church of Pittsfield, where he served in many capacities, including Christian education, Kingdom Extension, and as a deacon and trustee.
For many years he was involved in leadership of the Royal Ambassador Boys' Camp in Ocean Park, Me. He was also involved in American Baptist youth and family camping and conferences at Green Lake, Wis., Grotonwood in Goshen, and Camp Ashmere in Hinsdale.
He married Jean E. Robinson on Oct. 6, 1951 in North Adams.
Besides his wife, Mr. Johnson is survived by his three daughters, Melissa Widitor of Pittsfield, Melanie Johnson-DeBaufre of Madison, N.J., Sandra King of Holliston, and six grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Donald A Johnson, who died July 17, 2007, will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 88 South St., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Robert Rennie, pastor, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Board of Kingdom Extension First Baptist Church or to 32Degree Learning Centers, 33 Marrett Road, Lexington, Mass.., 02421. The DWYER FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
