Hubert E. Olsen, 95, of 20 Knox Road died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center after a long illness.
Born in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Jan. 8, 1912, son of Johan and Hilda Loufquist Olsen, he was a 1928 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Olsen was a self-employed contractor for more than 20 years.
He was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
His wife, the former Glenna Hover, died May 22, 1999.
He leaves three sons, Terry and Neal Olsen, both of Pittsfield, and Scott Olsen of Hinsdale; two daughters, Elaine Doyle of Pittsfield and Joan Evangelo of Pasco, Wash.; and a sister, Doris Weller of Canaan, N.Y.
He was predeceased by three sons Gary Olsen, Hugh Olsen and Richard Olsen.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Mr. Hubert E. Olsen will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield. There will be an hour of visitation Saturday from noon until the time of the service.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home. Mr. Olsen was an environmental conservationist and enjoyed working on his property.
