Maura E. Taillefer

Maura E. Taillefer, 43, of 63 Pollock Ave., died Thursday at home after a long illness.

Born in Manhattan, N.Y., on Oct. 7, 1963, daughter of John and May Cavanaugh Hickey, she was a 1982 graduate of Wilton (Conn.) High School, a graduate of Boston University and received her master's degree in education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Mrs. Taillefer was a homemaker and was active in the community. In the past, she served as president of the Pittsfield Junior League, was a program coordinator for Even Start, taught CCD for Sacred Heart Church and for the past three years taught human development at Taconic High School.

She enjoyed reading.

She and her husband, Terry Taillefer, celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary June 3. They were married in Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown, Conn.

Besides her parents, of Lanesborough, and her husband, she leaves a son, Sean Taillefer, at home; two brothers, Patrick Hickey of New York City and Sean Hickey of Watertown; and a sister, Kate Klemas of Wilmington, Del.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Maura E. Hickey Taillefer died in Pittsfield on Thursday, July 5, 2007. Mrs. Taillefer was a loving, stay-at-home mother. Beloved sister-in-law to Angel and Amy Hickey, Joe Klemas, Greg and Karen Taillefer, Paul and Leslie Taillefer, and Mark and Diane Taillefer; daughter-in-law to Ray and Helen Taillefer.

Also survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Maura Taillefer Trust Fund, care of the funeral home, which will be distributed to local charities in her memory.
