Frederick George Morin

Frederick George Morin, 69, of 52 Curtis Terrace died yesterday at his home.
Born in Pittsfield on June 4, 1938, son of Everett A. and Lillian Dellert Morin, he was educated in Pittsfield schools.
A Korean War veteran, he enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 1956 and served a tour of duty in Beirut, Lebanon. He was discharged with the rank of lance corporal in January 1959, and then transferred to the Marine Corps Reserve where he served until January 1962.
Mr. Morin was employed by Petricca Construction as a concrete mixer driver where he worked for 38 years, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the former Marine Corps League. He was also a member of O'Laughlin's Sportsmen's Club and O'Laughlin's Pitch League, and played AAA softball. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, boxing, traveling, and was a New Orleans Saints fan.
Mr. Morin is survived by his longtime companion, Judith A. Sherman; a son, Frederick E. Morin of Pittsfield; two daughters, Laura M. Morin of Pittsfield and Annika Eng of Hinsdale; two sisters, Joan Gavin of Pittsfield and Marian Cady of Piedmont, S.C.; and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Frederick George Morin, who died Friday, July 6, 2007, will be conducted Tuesday at noon at DERY FUNERAL HOME, by the Rev. Dr. Luis E. Benavides, pastor of First United Methodist Church. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Morin may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
Mr. Morin leaves his two grandchildren, Everett Morin and Michael Morin-Garrity, both of Pittsfield, and his loving extended family, Todd Sherman, Kimberly Galok, Brian Sherman, Tracy Broderick, Michelle Doucette, Michael Rahilly, Brianna Broderick, Taylor Galok, Jacqueline Doucette, Jay Doucette, Brandon McMahon, Jordan Sherman, Hali Sherman and Hannah Sherman.
