Francis J. O'Brien, 80, formerly of Pittsfield, died Monday at his residence at 6413 India Drive, Spring Hill, Fla.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 18, 1926, son of Luke and Margaret Hifko O'Brien, he moved to Florida in 1987.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. O'Brien was employed as a technician by the General Electric Co., retiring in 1986 after 40 years of service.
He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs and the Pittsfield Elks. While living in Pittsfield, he was a communicant of St. Charles Church.
His first wife, the former Daisy E. French, died April 25, 1985.
He leaves his wife, the former Kathleen Doran, whom he married March 12, 2005; five daughters, Kathy Cote and Theresa O'Brien, both of Pittsfield, Lisa Cartier of Hernando Beach, Fla., Debra French of Brooksville, Fla., and Ellen Schmidt of Altamont Springs, Fla.; three sisters, Priscilla Pepin of Orange, Conn., Mary Dojka of Lanesborough, and Rita Carmondy of Phoenix, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Francis J. O'Brien, former longtime Pittsfield resident, died Monday, July 2, 2007. Calling hours will be at DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Cemetery by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles Church.
