Armando N. DiNicola

Armando N. DiNicola, 85, of 245 Cheshire Road, died Wednesday at Hillcrest Commons, where he had resided since December 2002.
Born in Pittsfield on June 12, 1922, son of Selvino and Donata D'Orazio DiNicola, he attended local schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1946.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, in which he participated in several campaigns and received several medals.
Mr. DiNicola was employed by General Electric Co. from 43 years, retiring from the power transformer department in 1981.
He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of its Holy Name Society.
He was also a member of the Mount Carmel Church Wednesday and Sunday bocce leagues. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' Clubs, the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564, the Faccioli Club, the Berkshire Hill Country Club and the General Electric Athletic Association. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and bocce.
Mr. DiNicola and his wife, the former Julia A. Colli, were married June 21, 1947.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Peter J. DiNicola of Pittsfield and Michael A. DiNicola of Richmond; three brothers, Anthony C., Albert J. and Richard S. DiNicola, all of Pittsfield; a sister, Ersilia "Celia" Trapani of Pittsfield; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Armando N. DiNicola, who died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, will be conducted Monday at 9 a.m. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. He was the loving grandfather to Kirsten and Tracey DiNicola, Michael DiNicola Jr., and Vincent Villanova; and the loving great-grandfather to Mollie and Karlie DiNicola.
He also leaves a daughter-in-law, Terry DiNicola. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, care of the funeral home.
