Francis G. Tallman

Francis G. Tallman, 86, of 101 Orlando Ave., died Tuesday at home.

Born in Great Barrington on Feb. 22, 1921, son of Edward G. and Lucy Sprague Tallman, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and graduated from the four-year apprentice program at General Electric Co.

Mr. Tallman was employed by GE as a missile machinist for 40 years, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mystic Lodge of AF & AM, York Rite Bodies 32nd degree, Scottish Rite Bodies and the Melha Shriners.

He served for many years on the Pittsfield Masonic Board and as the Tyler of Mystic Lodge.

He was an active volunteer with Shriners' Hospital for Children and for many years was a volunteer driver for the American Red Cross. He also served as a gate attendant at Tanglewood.

His wife, the former Jeanette Gelinas, whom he married April 15, 1953, died April 29, 2004.

He leaves a son, Lawrence Tallman of Columbia, S.C.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Francis G. Tallman, who died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, will be conducted Friday, July 6, 2007, at 1 p.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Luis Benavides, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Pittsfield.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dalton. Calling hours will be held the day of the service from 11 a.m. until the time if the service. Per Mr. Tallman's request, no flowers are requested and donations are suggested to Shriners' Hospital, in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
