Edward J. "Ned" Loehr Jr., 73, of 31 Dexter St., died Tuesday at Hillcrest Commons, where he had been a resident since April.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 10, 1933, son of Edward J. Loehr Sr. and Marion Briggs Loehr, he was a 1952 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He was an Army veteran, serving from 1956 to 1958.
Mr. Loehr was employed at the Butler's Pulpit Rock Farm in Pittsfield as a laborer, retiring in 2004.
He enjoyed working on the farm, and stamp and coin collecting.
He and his wife, the former Gail L. Eldridge, were married Sept. 29, 1962.
Besides his wife, Mr. Loehr leaves his sisters, Karen Losee of Pittsfield and Maureen Dziadzio of Ludlow; and a brother, Kevin Loehr, of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian burial will be conducted at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pittsfield by the Rev. James K. Joyce. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery. A public visitation will be held Saturday from 8 to 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
Donations are suggested to Sacred Heart Church care of WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Mr. Loehr also leaves several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters, Winnifred Loehr and Patricia Fila.
