Doris Stein, 86, of 13042 Touchstone Place, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., a former Pittsfield resident, died Monday at home.
Born in New York City on Nov. 1, 1920, daughter of Harry and Edna Springmeyer Domroe, she attended schools there and graduated from Walton High School.
She moved to the Berkshires in 1953.
Mrs. Stein was a homemaker.
She was a member of Temple Anshe Amunim, Hadassah and the Pittsfield Country Club.
She enjoyed playing golf and cards.
She and her husband, Dr. Harold Stein, former Pittsfield health commissioner, were married Dec. 23, 1945. He died Nov. 12, 1991.
She leaves two daughters, Gail Kelner of Old Westbury, N.Y., and Wendy Stein of Pompey, N.Y.; a son, Michael Stein of Herndon, Va.; a brother, Walter Domroe of Bridgewater, Conn.; and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Doris Stein, who died Monday, June 25, 2007, will be conducted Thursday, June 28, at 6 p.m. at Temple Anshe Amunim by Rabbi Mark Wieder, spiritual leader.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery, Temple Anshe Amunim section. The family will receive friends during Shiva at Doris' Pittsfield home on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to Temple Anshe Amunim, both in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, which is handling arrangements.
She also leaves her grandchildren, Joshua and Jonathan Kelner, and Benjamin, Zachary and Civia Stein.
