Phyllis A. Baumann

Phyllis A. Baumann, 75, of 1450 North St. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on March 13, 1932, daughter of Louis V. and Lillian Keegan Leydet, she attended Lenox schools and was a 1949 graduate of Lenox High School.
She moved to Pittsfield in October 2005.
Mrs. Baumann was a telephone operator in Lenox for many years, retiring in the late 1980s.
She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church in Lenox and competed in many bowling tournaments across the state.
She enjoyed having neighboring children around and took care of more than 100 of them at her home over a 28-year period.
She and her husband, George R. Baumann, were married at St. Ann's Church on June 8, 1957. He died Feb. 28, 2006.
She leaves four daughters, Anita M. Fresolo of Oxford, Cynthia L. Boivin of Brookline, N.H., Joann B. Kingsbury of Dalton and Donna M. Baumann of Pittsfield; a son, William G. Baumann of Great Barrington; two brothers, Louis Leydet of Lee and Robert Leydet of Chesapeake, Va.; nine grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Phyllis Agnes Baumann, who died Monday, June 25, 2007, surrounded by her family, will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Ann's Church celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Ann's Church or HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
Mrs. Baumann also is survived by her beloved grandchildren, Anthony and Nicholas Fresolo, Jenna and Brandon Kingsbury, David and Robert Boivin, Amanda Baumann, Michael and Joseph LaFreniere, and Christopher and Jeffrey Spratt; her sons-in-law Anthony Fresolo, David Boivin and Michael LaFreniere; and a daughter-in-law, Wendy Baumann. A brother, Joseph Leydet, died in 1986. She was known affectionately as "Baumann" to local children.
