Doris E. Niles, 93, formerly of 137 Ashuelot St., died yesterday at Craneville Place of Dalton, where she had been a resident for the past three and a half years.
Born in Becket on June 20, 1913, daughter of George and Ella Cotton Carter, she was a 1931 graduate of Lee High School.
Mrs. Niles was employed by Crane & Co. for 20 years as an accountant.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Dalton.
She and her husband, Melvin Niles, were married Nov. 4, 1961. He died March 6, 1995.
She leaves a brother, Charles Carter of Dalton.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Doris E. Niles, who died Friday, June 15, 2007, will be conducted Monday at the BARTLETT WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. Irene Jones. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery.
She also leaves a sister-in-law, Judy Carter, and two nephews, Paul and Alan Carter. A sister, Ethel Carter, and a brother, Everett Carter, are deceased.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to either the First Congregational Church of Dalton Memorial Fund or the Dalton Ambulance Fund, care of the funeral home, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
