Gertrude E. Jensen

Gertrude E. Jensen, 95, of Hillcrest Commons, died there Tuesday.

Born in Stoughton on March 12, 1912, the daughter of James A. and Hattie Landon Buck, she attended schools there.

She lived most of her life in Brockton, moving to Pittsfield in 2000.

Mrs. Jensen was employed as a clerk for many years by stores in Brockton, including Gilchrist's, Coats & Fields, Bradlees and Almy's. She also ran a soda shop in Avon center with her husband and modeled shoes.

She lived most of her retirement years at Matfield Woods in West Bridgewater, where she participated in the Matfield Follies, and was a former member of the Sweet Adelines.

She attended Christ Congregational Church in Brockton for many years.

Her husband, Frank A. Jensen, to whom she was married more than 50 years, died in November 1989.

She leaves a daughter, Janet Petrides of Pittsfield; a son, Bruce A. Jensen of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Beatrice Seavey of Vista, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Gertrude E. Buck Jensen of Pittsfield, who died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. The family wishes to thank Rosewood Homestyle Assisted Living and Hillcrest Commons nursing home for the care they provided. Mother of Janet Petrides and Bruce A. Jensen. Sister of Beatrice Seavey. Aunt of Valerie Nutter, Betty McDermott, Richard and Robert Oakes. Mother-in-law of Claire Jensen. Grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of 14.
