Frank E. Green Jr., 72, of 15 Beech Road, Richmond Shores, died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in Winchester, Conn., on Dec. 10, 1934, son of Frank E. Green Sr. and Elizabeth Da'Re Green, he was a graduate of Norfolk (Conn.) High School and moved to Richmond 45 years ago.
A self-employed building contractor, Mr. Green built many Richmond homes over the past 40 years.
He was a community-involved person who built wooden toys for schools in Richmond, was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 50, and led Boy Scouts on many annual Boy Scout Jamborees throughout the country. He served the Town of Richmond as Title 5 inspector, served on the Board of Health and was a building inspector for several years.
He and his wife, the former Carol J. Bennett, were married in September 1961. She died Aug. 30, 2003.
Mr. Green leaves three sons, Michael D. and Jeff S. Green, both of Richmond, and Brian J. Green of Whatley; a brother, George Green Sr. of Winsted, Conn.; three sisters, Betty Sietz of Torrington, Conn., Jane Greenley of Chatham, N.Y., and Catherine Fairfield of Washington, N.J.; and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Frank E. Green Jr., who died Saturday, June 2, 2007, will be private and at the convenience of the family. Following cremation, burial will be in Center Cemetery in Richmond.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Boy Scout Camp, Chesterfield Camperships, care of WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. He also leaves three grandchildren, Frank and Aimee Green and Michael Foley.
