Robert V. Cowdrey

Robert V. Cowdrey, 83, of 42 Dalton Division Road, died yesterday at Providence Care Center in Lenox, where he had resided since January 2004.
Born in Albany, N.Y., on May 27, 1923, son of Leon and Mildred Morley Cowdrey, he was educated in local schools and was a 1943 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Cowdrey was employed as a program planner by General Electric Co. in the ordnance division for 34 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Pittsfield and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' Clubs.
He enjoyed camping and working around his home.
Mr. Cowdrey and his wife, the former Evelyn A. Passmore, were married July 7, 1951, in Pittsfield. She died April 12, 1997.
He leaves two sons, Glen J. Cowdrey of Dalton and Terry C. Cowdrey of Pittsfield; a daughter; Nancy A. Reese of Brookline, N.H.; nine grandsons; and three great-grandsons.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for Robert V. Cowdrey, who died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Ashuelot Cemetery in Dalton conducted by the Rev. William Furey, pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel.
There are no calling hours. Mr. Cowdrey also leaves his two daughters-in-law, Debra (Glen) Cowdrey and Nancy (Terry) Cowdre; his son-in-law, Paul Reese; his nine grandsons, Robbie, Justin, Brandon, Bradford, Shaun, Jacob, Ryan, Matthew and Brendon; and his three great-grandsons, Justin, Tyler and Connor.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 Main St. Dalton, MA 01226, which is in charge of arrangements.
